We celebrated the Facey Easter on Saturday. It is so much easier to work around everyone's schedules rather than on Sunday when we all seem to vary a lot. We also wanted to eat out and for eleven we can get reservations where on holiday Sundays there are problems.
Ed was testing this Dodge "Sprinter" (in Europe it's made by Mercedes Benz) this weekend. He and Carrie drove up in this mini-looking motor home. This puppy is long and tall! All of us, including Eric and Larry, could actually stand up without bending at all. It's about one and a half the length of a regular van. Eric's van was parked in front of it and was dwarfed! It seats twelve and has room to put another row of seats, so without that the storage room is big enough to put a Smart Car or possibly our Prius! We all went to our lunch as the family in the new meaning of "the family car".
We had our lunch at the Peking Wok with many dishes of delicious food that was shared by all. Everyone had quite a variety and we all left full. The kids weren't into the chop-sticks so they ate the Americanized way. Grandma tried once again, but still prefers the fork method.
Of course there were Easter baskets for each of the kids from Grandma and Papaw when they arrived. Lots of goodies for all. After lunch and returning to La Casa Camerino, there was an Easter egg hunt on the front lawn and gardens. When all was said and done, each of the grandkids had twelve eggs full of candy to add to their Easter baskets.
Rounding out the meal was a fun desert that everyone got to participate. We baked cupcakes with ice cream cones in them, so when turned right-side-up everyone hade an ice cream cone cake. Each of them then was covered in the famous Facey frosting and then all kinds of sprinkles and candies were out to enhance into your own. The kids had a ball (and I think the adults did too, right Auntie Carrie?). What a fun and simple thing to do.
Eric & Shirley and Carrie & Ed cashed in their Christmas gift from us and went to the Pantages Theater in Hollywood to see the stage production of "Mamma Mia". They chose the venue and the date and we kept the kids while they were gone. While they were at the theater, all of us watched "The Ten Commandments" which is really a long show for kids. Kendall made it through the whole thing, 7PM to11:45 PM. During the evening after the individual pizzas, they once again made more ice cream cone cakes. Everyone fell asleep with the adults returning around 1AM and leaving after a fabulous holiday.
This morning, we went to the 6:30 sunrise service, out to breakfast, then a lazy day watching Ben Hur and catching up on the DVR recorded programs that we didn't get to last week. And … back to work in the morning! Click here to view the whole album!
