On Memorial Day, Eric, Shirley kids and friends came in for the day to take the Blue Line and Red Line train/subway to Union Station with us to see the Disney Promotion train for a Christmas Carol. If you haven't heard of it and want to see if it will be in a town close to you, check out Disney stokes publicity engine with 'Christmas Carol' train - USATODAY.com* . After getting to Union Station, the line was at 5 hours to see the train … too long for this group!

We walked across the street to Olvera Street, the oldest street in LA for a little tourism. It hasn't changed much in the 30 years we have been here .. like visiting Mexico without going across the border.

We hopped the Red Line and went down to Hollywood to get a bite to eat at Mel's diner. Instead of getting off at Hollywood & Highland, I messed up and we got off at Hollywood and Vine. We walked about 10 blocks or so to get to Mel's, but the kids loved it and saw a lot of stars on the Walk of Fame and all of the adults needed the exercise anyway!
