The Grandkids came to stay for a vacation before having school start on August 25th. Kendall, Jordan, Mikayla and Ethan are staying and Ella maybe next year! Kendall wasn't able to stay Tuesday night and Wednesday as she had a horseback riding lesson in the morning and then had to go to Middle School registration in the afternoon. Grandma worked today so Papaw and the three kids made a day of it! Tomorrow, Kendall and Grandma will join us. We started the day out with their favorite breakfast, Mickey Mouse Waffles. Papaw made them and they ate them!
After some cartoon watching and getting cleaned up a little, we took off to the Cabrillo Beach Marine Aquarium and Museum in San Pedro. Many years ago we had taken Eric there while in Cub Scouts. We walked around and saw all of the Marine life and learned a thing or two also.
We walked out the pier and looked at the Ocean and played in the sand getting some walking exercise. We saw five dolphins swimming and playing really close to shore. It was fun to see their fins hump-up in the water as they swam.
We stopped in San Pedro for a late lunch before heading back to the Lakewood area. We decided to go to a different park than we usually go to and chose Liberty Park in Cerritos. There is a replica of the Liberty Bell …
A nice bench with a bronze Abraham Lincoln to sit with …
And plenty of fun playground activity …
Before heading home, we had an ice cream cone at Dairy Queen and then stopped at the DVD store to get movies for the evening.
At home, Mom, Dad, Ella and Kendall had arrived. Shortly after Grandma came home and made a Spaghetti & Meatball dinner. To round off the night, we settled down to watch "Happily N'Ever After' and "The Magic Gourd" which were picked out by Mikaya and Jordan earlier. None of us had seen them before. Really cute shows. Rounding out intermission between the two shows, everyone had pudding with whipped cream
That's it for Day 1 but tune in tomorrow for Day two. Click here to view all of the pictures of the day!
