2011 - July 5th - 8th - Facey Fab Five on Vacation at Grandma & Papaw's

After our fun-filled day at Shirley's birthday celebration and fireworks for the kids, Grandma and Papaw brought the Fab Five from the Facey Six-Pack back to Lakewood for the week. Our first day on the 5th, we took the train into LA and went to Universal Studios, a first for the kids. Kendall was there when she was about 4 months old, so it was a new experience for all. We went on all of the rides, took the back-lot tour and saw all of the shows, eating lunch at the Flintstone's BBQ.

On the 6th, Auntie Carrie & Ruby Joined us to visit the LA Zoo:

We finished up day 2 by renting Jurrasic Park as the kids rode the ride but never saw the film (age the Grandparents!)
Day 3 was another fun-filled adventure. We all went to the movies to see Mr. Popper's Penguins. It is a real cute movie and all enjoyed the comedy. A great picture for all. Then off to lunch before going to Cerritos for a swim at the pool.

Friday was our day to go to Irvine to the Tanaka Farms for a tour of the fields. This time of the year it is the watermelon tour. Two wagons are behind a tractor with a guide showing all the vegetables growing on the farm. There are stops all along the route with everyone getting to taste the veggies ... green onions, green beans, cherry tomatoes, zuchini, squash, cucumbers, sweet corn, and more ending at the melon and watermelon field for tasting, walking the fields, and getting your own watermelon to take home. The favorite had to be the sweet watermelon!!!

And check out all of the pictures from the four days at the album when you click.

We watched videos, colored, put together puzzles, played games and more during the vacation time in the evenings. We drove back to Perris meeting Eric, Shirley, and Evan at Jenny's Diner for lunch. What a joy we have in being Grandparents doing many things that we probably would not do on our own ... the fantastic time of Grandparenting !!!
