The family gathered at our house for a Sunday evening Easter dinner for the first time in quite a few years. We have been going out to eat on the Saturday before Easter but Kendall was away at camp and we didn't want her excluded. To try to get in a place on Easter with thirteen is too challenging. Grandma made every one's favorite, her special spaghetti and meat sauce recipe ... no one was disappointed! We had the light Easter decorations up for a couple of weeks that we enjoy and hope that everyone does too.
Carrie, Ed, Ruby and Kay (Ed's Mom) went to the Easter Service at our Crystal Cathedral, the last we shall have in this building before moving to our new location in June. It was sad to be the last, but the congregation flourishes and we will simply be in a new building for next year. After the service, we went to lunch at Mimi's with Halmoni Kay (Grandma) for her celebration with Ruby, Ed, & Carrie. Ruby had a fabulous time with her basket from Halmoni and we all had a wonderful morning being together.
We headed home after lunch and put the final touches on Easter dinner for the family. Larry went to work decorating the Jumbo confetti cupcakes that Mary Anne had baked. They were all Easter baskets with a Peep Chic and jelly-bean eggs with candy grass surrounding the basket. We found the grass in Julian last weekend on our excursion; I like it as it isn't green colored coconut! We used four different colors of Peeps and licorice in different colors for the handles (which didn't hold up very well as they broke after a few minutes ... but there were some survivors ... and everyone got the meaning!). We found Easter Egg shaped and decorated plates to save time in kitchen clean-up!
As Eric's were running late, when Carrie, Ed & Ruby arrived we had her go through her Easter basket from us.
After dinner, the kids all had their baskets from Papaw & Grandma.

The evening ended with a front lawn Easter Egg hunt that all of the kids had a fantastic time gathering. The Easter Bunny was pretty creative in some of the hiding spots! We all had a family photo and the Grand kids picture together too.
