2013 - August 4th - The Royal UK Tour continues ... off to York! So it's time for the Duke of York portion of the trip. After a great breakfast, we headed to York in the Vauxhall. Sandra always looked through her collection of interesting spots to find a great stopping spot for morning coffee and sweets. We always new it was close to time for the stop as those coffee urges popped-up ... and Diet Coke for Larry :).
Clumber Park was between Cambridge and York in the National Trust lands book, so a great stop for the mid-morning break. The Clumber House no longer stands and the sign gives no clue to what happened, just stating "After the fire of 1912 that nothing irreplaceable was destroyed and that the house was rebuilt" ... but then the sign ends with "So What happened to the Clumber House?" This needs an internet sight search to solve that question!
The grounds are beautiful ...
Now into the City of York and checking into our lovely accommodations at the Lady Anne Middleton's Hotel. Our travel agent Sandra did another spectacular job selecting our hotel; so nice to have the English cousin make all of these arrangements and surprise us daily and also be traveling partners on the trip!

This had been a hospital prior then converted to the hotel. Many of the old hospital amenities have survived.
York is a city completely enclosed within the wall that was built around it. Great sights were seen buy strolling the city both at ground level and from the wall.

And then we dined!
