2022 - May 11th - Disneyland Day

Our monthly visit to Disneyland was a relaxing and enjoyable day. We strolled the entire park taking in people watching and enjoying the sights and sounds of the park as we do on every trip. We entered under the Walt Disney sign that is taken so for granted most of the time which reads "Here You Leave Today and Enter The World of Yesterday, Tomorrow and Fantasy".

We walked past City Hall and stood adjacent to the flag pole at the beginning of Main Street where we enjoyed watching Mickey Mouse lead the Disneyland Marching Band toward us. It was good to see Mickey and enjoy the lively music of this precision band!

We looked through the stores on the right side of the street as we headed towards The Sleeping Beauty Castle. We stopped for a few minutes to talk with our friend Russell who works in the Disney Clothier Store. It's always enjoyable to see new merchandise! In Fantasyland we rode the Storybook Land boat ride. These miniature houses, castles, trees, parks and settings are such a work of art! We are swallowed up entering this fantasy through Jonah's wide mouth!

Just a few of the cuteness captured but so many more that were not!
The home of The Big Bad Wolf and the House made of Bricks by the third little pig!

Alice's Village Water Mill

The City of Agrabah where Jasmine's castle reigns and Aladdin caused some fun havoc!
Cinderella's Castle sits atop the high mountain hill with the curved path leading up. Look closely to see the pumpkin coach ... is Cinderella inside that coach???

Seven Dwarf House
Annandale where Elsa and Anna reign! ... Let it go, let go! Do you want to build a snowman?

And the home of Ariel and Prince Eric's little place!

Where Pinocchio was carved ... Geppetto's Toy Shop!
We visited The Harbour Galley on the Rivers of America again on this trip for lunch. We had learned that there was an off-the-menu lobster mac and cheese in a sour-dough bowl to die for. I had to have it on this trip. It probably is a good thing that it is a hidden item as they probably could not keep up with sales if it was known to everyone. It was superb! Mary Anne enjoyed her tuna salad sandwich too.

In Tomorrowland we hopped on the Disneyland Railroad to ride the circle of the park. For the first time I noted the sign at the Main Street Station that states Disneyland Population 650 Million! I'll have to keep my eye open over the coming years to see if they update that number periodically!

We always enjoy the pre-historic diorama that Walt Disney designed for this ride.

And the Grand Canyon diorama is beautiful as well as educational.

As we strolled through the lands, we stopped outside of the Indiana Jones ride to check on our Little Man of Disneyland's home at the tree trunk of the entrance. Since hearing the story of The Little Man and knowing there is an actual Golden Book with his story and discovering this existed awhile ago, we like to check in on him every once and awhile. This is a hidden gem that is there to be found by the curious ... no hits given at Disneyland of it's existence!
While in this area we jumped aboard one of the boats to go on the Jungle Cruise. Delightful!

To end our day, we stopped in at The Jolly Holiday Bakery for a sweet and a drink. Mary Anne's choice today was a Mine Cart brownie from the 7-Dwarf's mine, a white chocolate-dipped dark chocolate brownie topped with sugar gems! And I had the Parade Macaron ... a yellow macaron filled with honey buttercream and lemon curd topped with rainbow sprinkles and electrical parade drum decoration.

We went through this side of the Main Street shops on our way out of the park. With Star Wars day last week on May 4th (May the Forth be With You) we wanted to see in person the Star Wars scene with the Millenium Falcon made by the Disneyland bakers and on display at The Grand Californian. We looked through The World of Disney as we walked to entrance in Downtown Disney to The Grand Californian. We had not been inside the hotel since before the Pandemic!

It is a spectacular feat of artistry and culinary skills. Not only is the display mind-blowingly large, but looking closely at all of the details is quite unbelievable. We were glad we went to see it. Look at all of the ingredients that were used!

Details!!!!
And we were fortunate enough to purchase these treats for Ed's Birthday on Thursday ... The Child giant macaron, Start Wars cookie and Light Sabers made of white chocolate covered pretzels and sparking colored sugar!
