For our 50-year anniversary we started out on the 14th spending the day at Disney's California Adventures Park. We took-in a few rides. walked and people watched, and doing the things we normally do at the park. We had dinner reservations at 5 at the Carthay Circle Restaurant, the showplace restaurant of California Adventures. We have had several anniversary dinners here as a special place at Disney. Being blocked out for our actual date, this was just perfect for us! We now join the ranks of Disneyland and Walt Disney World celebrating 50 years ... we were in both parks during their 50-year celebrations. The Mickey-Minnie 50-year pin is from WDW and the Golden Mickey Ears from Disneyland.
We arrived at our reservation time at the Carthay Circle Restaurant and were taken to the second-floor dining room. The stairwell to the second floor is as magnificent as always! Passing the marvelous old-time pictures is always enjoyable. We had a marvelous table with excellent views of the dining space.
Our table was next to the center dining area with the intricate painted ceiling with the lighted dome. We started with our traditional white wine when dining at Carthay Circle, the Riesling Dr. Loosen. We also had the Warm Cheddar Parker House Rolls with Calabrian Chili-Pine Nut Romesco Butter and also the Carthay Wedge Salad with Apples, Candied Bacon, Blue Cheese and Pecans.
For the main entree Mary Anne had the Butternut Squash and Sage Gnocchi with Farmer's Market Pears, Wild Mushrooms, Broccoli and Walnut-Parsnip Pistou. My entree was Sauteed Red Snapper in a Hot and Sour Autum Squash Broth, Forbidden Rice, Cashews and Fresh Herbs.
Finishing up the great meal was a Macadamia Nut Cheesecake with Lemon Méringue.
