2009 - February 16th - Hollywood & the Oscar prep

It's Monday, February 16th, President's Day and we have the day off of work. It's a rainy day, but that can't dampen our spirits. We decided to take the Metro Rail up to Hollywood to purchase "Momma Mia" tickets at the Pantages Theater that Eric & Shirley and Carrie & Ed selected as their Christmas present from us. We don't take the train or other mass transit very much, but this is a pretty good ride on the Blue and Red Lines to get there with no driving or parking hassles. We get off at Hollywood & Vine and are just across the street from the Pantages. We used umbrellas most of the time but no downpours!

The subway station at Hollywood & Vine has movie film reels on the ceilings for decorations. And then some of the tiling are fun to see.

The town is getting ready for the Oscars even though some props are covered with plastic due to the rain. It always seems a little surreal to be someplace that you will see on TV.

We had lunch at Mel's diner before heading back to Lakewood. We had a fun day as these few pictures show. Click on and share the fun!
