During our vacation week between Christmas and New Years, we drove up the coast and inland to Solvang, CA. It is a cute little town with lots of restaurants, candy shops, bakeries, and unique gift shops. It was the only day of the week that we actually had rain. But as typical for California, no downpours and we were able to drive in and out of showers on the trip. In Solvang, no rain … a little mist .. so a very pleasant day!
We walked around the town and window shopped all of the stores. We decided for lunch that we would eat at the Danish Mill Bakery Coffee Shop … yes, because of all of the excellent sweets looking at us from the bakery shelves!
The lunch menu was excellent and we were very happy, but neither of us decided to pass up those pastries. Mary Anne had a piece of her favorite German Chocolate Cake and Larry couldn't pass up the fabulous looking Chocolate Covered Cream Puff Éclair! Don't you love them by the looks?
At another bakery we had to go in and take a picture of the 5 foot tall Ginger Bread House. There were several smaller houses for sale in the $125 to $300 range; we didn't purchase any!
A few more pics in our album ..
