On January 7th, we all met at the Build-A-Bear in Downtown Disney for the Facey Grandkids to make their bears that Papaw & Grandma gave them Christmas Gift Certificates. The energy was high with great anticipation. There are so many bears and other delights to choose from for each of the kids.
Some of the Outfits for the Bears
Everyone looked around at the bears and the outfits and made their choices on what they were going to get. Once the selections were made, it was time to get them stuffed. Each got to hold the pedal down to get the stuffing into their bear. Ethan and Jordan were pretty savvy and chose lower price bears, getting two with their certificates.
Once stuffed, it was then time to have the heart put into them and the bear closed up. These bears are really soft and feel so good to hold.
Then onward to get the outfits. The selection is large and each found just the right one for their newly adopted friend.
Kendall went for girl-style on her polar bear:
Jordan's two were LA all the way with one being a Dodger!
Mikayla picked a pretty in pink for her bear:
Ethan had a studious boy bear (love the glasses)and a girl bunny:
Ella wanted a Darthbeardor in her Star Wars love affair:
Mom and Dad dressed Evan's bear in a California casual:
Retirement Lunch Surprise at Disney
It was after 12:30, so Larry told Mary Anne that everyone was hungry and that we were going to take all to the Grand Californian Hotel's Story Tellers Cafe for lunch. Carrie, Ed and Ruby had arrived at the Cafe and were holding a table for us. We had been planning this surprise Family Lunch to celebrate Mary Anne's retirement. We did take her by surprise and pulled it off. She was puzzled when she saw Carrie waiting in front of the Cafe and Ruby & Ed came out to greet her. Carrie & Ed had picked up the cake and brought it with them. It was really a fine pastry, different than anything we had ever had. There were several layers of flaky pastry separated with luscious custard filling between each multi-layer. Topped with white chocolate, dark chocolate covered strawberries, sweet whipped cream, and a solid chocolate banner "Congratulations Mom", the dessert could not have been better.
We could not let this joyous celebration pass without special gifts. A solitaire diamond pendant necklace came from Larry.
Eric, Shirley and the Facey 6-Pack Grandkids selected beautiful diamond hoop ear rings that the kids picked out.
And Carrie, Ed & Ruby gave her a Barnes and Noble "Nook" to electronically read books, magazines, receive and send emails and more. (We think she liked it !!!)
We had a great time with lots of conversation between all of us including the kids (who are just growing up too fast!), entertainment from the two youngest (Evan & Ruby) and wonderful diverse meal selections that were individually chosen.
