2013 - January 5th - Larry's Family Retirement Breakfast

Larry was treated to a surprise at the Downtown Disney Resort's Grand Californian Hotel's Story Teller Cafe for a family breakfast celebrating retirement. This will be the final chapter of retirement celebrations! Upon arrival at the Cafe, Ed, Carrie & Ruby tapped me on the shoulder with a big "Surprise". Shortly after, Eric, Shirley and the 6-pack arrived. Mary Anne had made a secret reservation so seating followed shortly. The Story Teller Cafe at the Grand Californian is one that we enjoy occasionally for a Sunday lunch. The premise was to have a special breakfast and then look around the park for a little while before the holiday decorations came down. So the family breakfast was a true surprise. Breakfast is great ... a buffet with anything that you can imagine. All omelets are made to the individual order and mini Mickey waffles are made in the back kitchen and brought to the table fresh and crispy; to start us off, they served us two platters of the waffles which the kids and the adults enjoyed. Sweet pastries, bacon, sausage, ham, eggs, potatoes, muffins, biscuits, fresh fruit and much more was available and delicious from the buffet!

One of the most fun things about the Story Teller Breakfast is that it is hosted by Chip & Dale and their buddies. We were visited by both plus Brother Bear, the Raccoon from Pocahontas, Pluto, the Song of the South Bear, and other "critters" that aren't normally seen at the park. The kids were thrilled!

And the adults didn't mind either!!!

We all really enjoyed a great meal, but the company was the best! Kendall shared the table with Papaw & Grandma

The whole group went together and bought me the new Microsoft Surface tablet. I love it, not only for the tablet features but also the attachable keyboard. I can't believe how slim it is and the fantastic quality of display. I am learning and sure that I can master it in my old age!!! Got the Internet connection, facebook, AOL mail, how to use the camera, and some other stuff so far, so I can't complain one bit!

All of this for a lifetime of work ... so humble on my part. And as always, the most precious gift are these seven grandchildren and their wonderful parents!
