On Friday March 20th, we had one last full day with Pam and Fred before they had to leave and return to Orlando on Saturday. We decided to take them through the back country hills and trees enjoying the scenery and to visit Julian. It's one of our favorites in the Fall during apple time, but in the Spring they also have a Daffodil Festival. We stopped at our usual great place, San Ysabel, to shop Dudley's Bakery. We picked up a couple of loafs of their great unusual breads and other bakery items to bring home. Looked around the gift shop and enjoyed the bakery smell.
Then we walked over next door to the Julian Pie Company to grab a slice of pie and coffee or cold drinks while we relaxed on the patio.
Continuing the nine miles to Julian, we saw many wild Daffodils growing on sides of the road. Many more to come as they are just in the early blooming stage. Once in Julian, we walked up and down both sides of the street of the three blocks or so of this historic small town visiting many of the houses that have been converted to gift stores. After a few hours of shopping, we had lunch at the Rongbranch Restaurant ... delicious food. We had a marvelous day!

On the way back to Lakewood we stopped for a couple of hours at the Pechanga Indian Casino for a little fun and to miss some of the driving traffic.
The short photo album is here!
