2016 - May 22nd - Celebrating Mikayla's 14th Birthday

Mikayla's 14th Birthday ends the May Birthday celebrations. We met Sunday afternoon to celebrate a couple of days early. Lots of fun was had by all. Everyone enjoyed the food and company as well. Mikayla wanted ribs, so that was a big part of the food selection ... but oh so much more too! What a beautiful cake for her ...

Mikayla said to her Mom, only one candle? Mom replied the cake was too pretty to overpower it with lots of candles ... we all agreed!

Surprise, surprise, surprise, but as the fifth of six to get the Birthday gift from Papaw and Grandma this year, think it's sort of anticlimactic to a certain point! But this luggage is purple! Another grandchild can now go to Florida on the June family vacation! And what will be the birthday surprise for Evan on June 10th???

And who's the Grandma that loves Mikayla to pieces??
On Wednesday the 25, one day after Mikayla's actual birthday, we met them for an afternoon of fun at Disneyland. Autotopia had just reopened a couple of weeks before after a makeover. Honda now sponsors it, so all of the cars now have the Honda "H" on their hoods and the cars have all come into 21st century designs.

Jordan hopped into a spiffy white model
Kendall, an adult with a valid driver's license gave driving tips to little brother Ethan
Ella took the wheel to escort Mom around the track in this fire-engine red model
While Dad sat back for a thrill ride in Red at the hands of soon-to-be-5-year-old Evan
R2D2 and CPO3 welcomed us aboard Star Tours ...

Over at California Adventures to take up time until our fast-passes on Soarin', we all rode the Mickey Fun Ferris Wheel. I can only speak for the car I was in with Grandma, Kendall, Jordan and Ethan ... it was a crazy ride! We picked the car that doesn't sway on a track, but is stable. Guess that was not much reassurance for those four! We stopped at all points around the Ferris circle to let the cars fill up at the bottom and I encouraged everyone to look down at the park and absorb it all from high above; it's such a spectacular view of the parks! I can only say that that whent over like a lead balloon! And these are the same grandchildren that ride Scream'n', the propelled roller coaster that goes upside down in a huge circle? Go figure! Captured some of the expressions in the pics and persisted hard to get "friendly" shots!  ...

It only took about 30 snaps to get these without the total fear on their faces ... they were deleted by yours truly! Then the others in the car below, you'll have to text them for their experience. Think they got all the sane ones (well, except for Papaw! who was with the nutty ones!).
