2016 - May 28th - Ruby at Adventure City

Ed and Carrie are in San Diego with cousins Brian and Rachel Facey Brichta for the weekend, so we have Ruby staying with us. We were thinking of things to do that would be fun and different. I thought of Adventure City Amusement Park in Anaheim. We had taken Carrie and Eric there when they were little and then Kendall and Jordan when they were about this age. It's a small park with kiddie rides much like a carnival. We thought Ruby would be OK for a couple of hours ... but she wanted to keep returning to rides to do them over and over again. We stayed for a little over four hours! Lines are short and it's all for young kids. It is kept up well, clean, freshly painted and the changes over the years have kept them around. They're only open on weekends and holidays most of the year then open full time for summer months. We were pleased and had a great time.

Arriving at Adventure City

Inside the park at one of the refreshment and merchandise stands, I asked Ruby to stand next to Thomas The Train (or his knock-off cousin, perhaps!) for a photo opportunity!

Then she spotted at Rain Room/Fog Tent and wanted to go in. It's so foggy that you can't see anything! She loved it! Just to show that kids can be amused by the simplest of ideas, right? A big empty tent filled with fog and a little mist! We visited it again on our way out!

One thing we noticed was the play areas have vanished. The rides have taken over which is what parents want when they're paying and kids love for having fun and something different from at home or their local play parks. A couple of the old-time remnants still exist like the flowers that you can poke your head through for that special photo op!

Our first ride was on the Giggle Wheel ... so much fun!

Grandma waving back to us from way down there on the ground!
We rode the Rescue 911 Vehicles a few times during our stay. We wanted a fire truck, but never got one. Well, Ruby was a good Sheriff driving us on the first trip!
It was time for the Crazy Bus ride ... it takes you up and around, frontwards and backwards! We were not expecting that as we hadn't seen it operate ... no line when we got there! So it was a thrill that first time!
And every amusement park must have a Carousel ...

The Balloon Racers were more thrilling than they look!!!

Next was Pilot Ruby taking me up on a Barnstormer Airplane ride!

Ruby really had fun Crank'n' and Roll'n' on the Crank and Roll Ride

Next door to the Crank and Roll was the Adventure City Train that rides us around the perimeter of the park and all of the rides.
.

And then there is the Petting Zoo ... goats, sheep, a large tortoise and a chicken coop to feed the chickens!

They also have a roller coaster and a drop tower, but none of us really are into them, so we had a great time repeating some of the ones we do like! It really was a fun day, which was good as Ruby told us that her parents do fun family things on Saturdays! We didn't let them down!
