2020 will go down in history as the year of the Covid-19 Pandemic. It changed many traditions and altered our way of life. This is the first Thanksgiving that our entire family was not together to celebrate. Due to the new upsurge of infection rates from the virus, we all decided that the best thing to do was to stay local and follow all of the medical protocols. Mary Anne did her traditional cooking and baking for this year. We were joined by Carrie, Ed and Ruby. We ate on the patio outdoors ... the weather cooperated!!!
We decorated for the festive season with our collection from over the years.
We even had a little Thanksgiving décor on the patio table!
We had purchased the usual 24 pound turkey anticipating the normal family attendance. So it was roasted for the five of us with leftovers going home with The Kims and after a Friday lunch for us, the remainder into the freezer to take to Utah when we go for Christmas. So Eric's family will still have some of Grandma's Thanksgiving turkey .. even though a month late!
With all prepared, Carrie, Ed and Ruby arrived with their vegetable side dishes and we all enjoyed a great Thanksgiving meal. We have so much to be thankful for with family, friends, health and surviving the pandemic!
We all joined in to help Ruby with her craft project, putting together the 12 Days of Christmas countdown for Santa coming down the chimney in the fireplace.
And to wrap up the day it was time for some of Grandma's home-made pies ... Pumpkin and Apple! Yummy!!!
And we finished off the celebration with a face time call with Eric, Shirley, Kendall, Jordan, Mikayla, Ethan, Ella and Evan. They had also just finished their Thanksgiving dinner. It was enjoyed by all. Eric got to carve the turkey so he must have watched me over the years to slice that bird to perfection ... hahaha!!!
We look forward to life getting back to somewhat normal sometime in 2021. What we chose to give-up this year will give us many more years together in the future.
