2021 - November 4th - Celebrating at Oga's Cantina at Disneyland for Larry's Birthday

Another happy year, another magical celebration! We started out the evening before with a marvelous cheesecake at home ... plenty for breakfast on the 4th before going to Disneyland and for the following days too!
Upon entering Disneyland, took the opportunity with the still social distancing standards to get a picture with Mickey!
We strolled down Main Street where the Christmas decorations are beginning to appear. Many of the shops are full of new arrivals for the holidays. We always enjoy walking the shops on one side when arriving and then the other when we exit.  Approaching Sleeping Beauty's castle, we decided to stop by the Snow White Wishing Well and say hello to her and all seven dwarfs! The castle has the beginnings of holiday decorations with icicles and decorated garlands visible.

Onward to Star Wars and Galaxy's Edge. We have reservations at Oga's Cantina at Galaxy's Edge for 10:50 ... our first visit!

Oga's Cantina welcomed us to this local cantina, where bounty hunters, smugglers, rogue traders and weary travelers of all ages come together to refuel, enjoy music and conduct meetings—no questions asked! With an expansive menu of exotic concoctions for young ones and adults, the cantina is a welcome rest stop before any galactic journey here at Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland.
With our coveted reservations we were able to enjoy some bold musical entertainment courtesy of droid DJ R-3X, a former Starspeeder 3000 pilot that piloted the first Star Tours ships in Tomorrowland. We didn't see them on our visit, but evidently these three have been to Oga's!!! LOL!!!

The cantina adheres to proprietor Oga Garra’s strict code of conduct which are written only in Aurebesh. To avoid Oga’s legendary wrath we just keep it simple, no fighting and no getting too rowdy, but it is known that patrons can be… unpredictable, so just keep your head down—and drink casual.

For those who have long dreamed of visiting one of the galaxy’s infamous watering holes, Oga’s Cantina brings that dream to life. Explore a Galaxy of Unusual Offerings at Oga’s that specializes in fantastical drinks sourced with ingredients from across the galaxy that will delight even the youngest crew members. There are selections with alcohol—like the Jedi Mind Trick cocktail, Bad Motivator IPA or Toniray wine in a mix of several cocktail drinks. Grabbing a cocktail, or mocktail, at Oga’s Cantina is a great way to feel like part of Batuu when visiting Galaxy’s Edge! Mary Anne enjoyed a Takidana Quencher while Larry had a Bloody Rancor with our Batuu Bits (a collection of sweet potato, seaweed, green bean crisps, potato crisps plus some other items I couldn’t quite place). Oh so good!!!!
We really enjoyed our stay at Oga's! Off to see other attractions as we walk through Galaxy's Edge in this wonderful submersive environment!
We stopped by Critter Country to ride the little Winnie the Pooh attraction and check out all of the offerings in the gift store. The park continues to have holiday decorations appearing.

Lunch was at Carnation CafĂ© on Main Street. We enjoyed our meals of Grilled Salmon and Chicken-Fried-Chicken, both with delicious sides!

We followed lunch with riding attractions, strolling through the park and enjoying this leisure day. It had been a long time since we rode on the Storybook Land boats in Fantasyland. Entering under the vine arches and through the whales mouth, we soon began seeing all of our favorite character's homes in miniature. Looking closely, they have all been decorated for the Christmas Holidays!

Another oldie but goodie was walking through the Sleeping Beauty story in the tower at the castle. Just one of those things that's always there but rarely visited!

The monorail started running after a year and a half absence during the Covid crisis. It has been brought back with a new overlay of Mickey. It was fun riding it again as it was several years ago with the grandkids that we took a tour of the park upon Walt's dream monorail!

We also took in Pirates of the Caribbean ... the Lady in Red, Captain Jack and all of the pirate mates, animals, and battles! Always a joy to ride!

We finished up our day at Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.

It was a great birthday celebration. It's always nice to escape life and enjoy The Happiest Place On Earth ... the original Disneyland! There are a few more pictures, especially of Oga's, in the photo album at this link.
