2013 - September 19th - Southern Ohio, Family Lunch, German Village

Thursday the 19th was a family day for all of the California family. We traveled as a car/van-chain down through Mary Anne's family history taking in local sites and the cemeteries in Columbus and Nelsonville for family history. Outside of Nelsonville we had a family lunch at Bob Evans.

In Circleville, we spotted this great Bed and Breakfast. I have no idea who would ever go to Circleville, Ohio for a get-away, but I love the look of this B&B! Perhaps they get a little business in October during the Circleville Pumpkin Show! Yes, for all of the non-Ohioans, there really is a Circleville Pumpkin Show and I have even linked it in their name for you to look at!

Just outside of Columbus where Mary Anne was brought up, we stopped at Renick's Family Market from Ashville, OH to look at all of the pumpkins, gourds, and other offerings and to purchase some Apple Cider and the famous Amish Trail Bologna that can only be found in this part of the country. If you ever get the chance, get some! The ring bologna is much more tasty than the regular ... in our opinion. Bought three rings for all of us.

Eric's had driven over to West Virginia to visit Shirley's cousin, so this evening, Ed, Carrie, Ruby, Larry and Mary Anne went to Columbus's German Village to look around and have dinner at Schmidt's Sausage Haus and Restaurant. The sausages were delicious. No room for the 16 ounce cream puffs! We walked around the neighborhood and Carrie & Ed fell in love with it.

Complete with a Pig horse-hitch!
And a little Schmidt Sausages sculpture too ...

And always in Columbus, The Ohio State University and Buckeye candies!!!
